AMAZING SOUP (& FOOD)!!!! Not much in the way of "sit down, NON-fast-food" restaurants is available in Urbana, Ohio on a Sunday, after church, so...imagine our surprise when we walked into a nearly EMPTY Mayflower's Chinese Restaurant, & discovered some of there BEST tasting food we've EVER EATEN!! The Hot & Sour soup that Carol finished preparing as we entered the building, was absolutely & inarguably THEEEE BEST (so, OF COURSE we walked out with an extra couple quarts for what is predicted to be the coldest day of the year tomorrow) ...the Garlic Chicken that I ordered was HEAVENLY & my husband's Chicken Chow Mein was divine, TOOOOO. If you haven't tried this place, YOU SIMPLY MUST!!! We'll DEFINITELY BE BACK!!!!! Rest rooms were clean, as was the entire restaurant! All I can say, after reading "Sierrah K."'s review is, she MUST'VE woken up on the wrong side of the bed...some people just cannot be pleased (& we've ALL met them. This place is GREAT...
Go and sit inside. The place is in an old building and it has somewhat different acoustics. Food is hand made on site. I had the Walnut Chicken and it had all the right combinations of flavors and textures. The booths are somewhat worn so be careful how you plop down. Tables were clean. Men's restroom was a challenge to find though - watch the signs. The Owner waited on us and she is a very happy lady, easy to converse with. I have frequented this restaurant for a while now.
Carol is gracious and hardworking. The food is excellent. My daughter and I love to spend birthday meals together there. Service for larger family gatherings is very smooth. We have had as many as ten people at a time over the years. ***** rate 5 stars
In terms of a Chinese restaurant in a small town in Ohio this really is a fantastic place. It's authentic for one. Was greeted by the chef and waited on by her too. Hunan chicken was delicious. One of the best hot and sour soups I've had. It's a bit of a run down atmosphere but whatever. Just enjoy.
As far as Im concerned Mayflower has the Best Food thing is they don't give you Enough, and that's to bad because it is SO GOOD!! FIVE STARS +!! Crab Rangoon
A good place to eat, i had the sesame chicken and spring rolls, and it was very good. They serve you quick but it doesn't lack flavor at all.
Little family run Chinese food spot with the nicest people. The soy sauce they use is absolutely delicious! The shrimp in the shrimp lo mein aren't those tiny frozen shrimps either :) highly recommend if you're in the area
